About this file
This technical specification document is for Ford F-550 Chassis-Cab Trucks being procured by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) under Specification Number MA-25-31, dated July 24, 2026. The specification establishes detailed technical requirements for bidders to provide compliant chassis-cab trucks suitable for remounting Metro's existing FET service bodies. Bidders must respond to all highlighted line items by stating "In compliance" or providing applicable values to be considered responsive. The specification requires submission of complete sets of maintenance, repair, parts manuals, and electrical schematics at pre-delivery inspection, with provisions for due bills if materials cannot be provided immediately. Vehicles must meet California emissions standards and be equipped with specified components including a 7.3-liter V-8 engine, heavy-duty automatic transmission with PTO lock-out feature, power-assisted brakes with rear anti-lock capability, backup camera system with 30-foot night vision range, and factory-installed air conditioning.
Warranty coverage is a critical component of this procurement, with vehicles warranted for a minimum of 36 months or 36,000 miles against defects in design, material, and workmanship, while powertrain components are covered for a minimum of 60 months or 60,000 miles. All warranty periods commence from the vehicle acceptance date, with no deductible required. Bidders located outside a 60-mile radius from Los Angeles must provide certification from local dealers confirming full warranty service coverage availability within the Los Angeles area and commitment to perform all warranty services within 24 hours. The specification allows bidders to request authorization for substitution of goods or approved equals through a formal written process with supporting documentation, as detailed in the associated IFB documents LOI-10 and LOI-14.
