About this file
This is a Scope of Work document for the State of Texas regarding the Camp Mabry Building 75 RTUs Replacement project. The project involves the replacement of seven existing Carrier rooftop HVAC units (RTUs), model 48HJE007G-631CA, located on Building 75 at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. The replacement units must be similar or equal to existing units in capacity, tonnage, and performance. The scope of work encompasses equipment removal and disposal of the old RTU units, installation of seven new RTU package units with hail guard louvers, connection to existing 460-3 phase disconnect and gas lines, installation of equipment pads or isolation feet, connection to existing ductwork or fabrication of new metal ductwork, installation of duct detectors and fire alarm system connections, and installation of new drain lines. Additional work includes installation of new programmable or smart thermostats for each RTU package unit, system balancing and commissioning, airflow adjustments, performance testing, start-up procedures and operational checks, and cleanup and debris removal throughout the project.
The project has an estimated budget of $190,000.00 and is located at Camp Mabry, 2200 W. 35th Street, Austin, Texas 78703. The justification for replacement is that the current RTU units are past their lifecycle replacement dates and operate on outdated and non-operational control boards. The existing units operate on R-134A freon refrigerant, which is being phased out of the industry and is increasingly difficult to procure. Repair parts are difficult to acquire, and the units cannot be updated, making replacement the only viable option. The point of contact for this project is Mr. Peter Byers, Facilities Maintenance Manager, at 512-782-5709.
