Policy, Planning, and Environmental Focus

Our Work Has

• Assessed the costs and benefits of national fuel economy standards

• Supported transit and multi‐use trail systems accessing national parks and public lands

• Created national transportation workforce development strategies and programs

• Developed policies and supported rulemaking that drive reductions in transportation energy use and greenhouse gas emissions

• Modeled and helped mitigate environmental impacts of infrastructure investments

Our Center for Policy, Planning, and Environment provides a full range of planning, evaluation, compliance, and implementation assistance to transportation decision makers at the local, regional, state, and federal levels.

We equip transportation decision makers with the information and tools necessary to plan, develop, manage, operate, and finance the nation’s transportation system and build the capacity of the organizations that support that system.

We analyze, synthesize, and communicate data to support environmentally sustainable, economically efficient, and socially just transportation decisions.

Environmental Remediation & Decommissioning Services

(ERDS)

ERDS - Procurement Objective

The objective for this total Small Business Set‐Aside (SBSA) acquisition is to obtain the services of a diverse pool of resources, industries, and disciplines needed to provide Environmental Remediation and Decommissioning Services (ERDS) in support of the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center).

The work will require multiple contractors to respond to numerous and often simultaneous requests for the Volpe Center’s ERDS support from sponsors within and outside of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT).

ERDS – Background – History

In February 2010, in support of the FAA’s ECU and FD Programs through a Full and Open competition, the Volpe Center awarded four Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)‐type contracts.

Although encompassing similar work, the subject ERDS contract has a different scope and is not considered a follow‐on to the prior contract.

The prior contract supported remediation efforts such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Libby, MT, and other projects mostly in support of the FAA.
