Response to Question – 11/22/16
Question for Cabin Flooring on item 4:
With regards to the steel replacement of the 20sqft for the bulkhead and the floor of the shower pans and the toilets, are we to assume that this is to be replaced and bid accordingly or will this be covered in a CFR if it is discovered?
Note for Bidding purposes:
Toilet Enclosures to include 6 each toilet removal and survey of steel structure underneath - open and inspect and repair as per CFR direction
• Use 3 locations to renew steel with a total space of 20 sq ft of 5/16" plate- crop out and renew)
• Use adjacent bulkhead replacement of 20 sq ft of 1/4" plate - crop out and renew
• Renew 6 each flushometers with same design and type
• Renew 20ft of piping with all fittings and to make up to new flushometer if old piping is bad
• Renew 6 each toilet paper dispenser similar to existing
i) Provide a CFR on wall mounted porcelain toilets, flushometers and plumbing with recommendations for renewal and/or refurbishment.
Reply to the above question:
The information provided as a guide to bidding contractors was to allow for a common bidding amount of steel work rather than using an “open and inspect” then have the contractor use a CFR to charge MARAD for conditions found.
Contractor to use the following in their bid for estimated costs Note for Bidding purposes:
If there is more than this amount of specific area of steel or flushometers or piping or toilet paper dispensers or toilets then following CFR guidelines apply---------
i) Provide a CFR on wall mounted porcelain toilets, flushometers and plumbing with recommendations for renewal and/or refurbishment.
