HEAT DETECTORS MIR-600 SERIES
Description Mircom’s MIR-600 Series Heat Detectors are attractive, durable and feature combination rate-of-rise and fixed temperature operation. Mircom’s MIR-600 heat detectors are available in 135°F(57°C) and 200°F (93°C) temperature ratings. Rate-of-rise detects heat by quickly responding to a rapid temperature increase. Rate-of-rise units have a wide spacing allowance of 50-foot centers.
See specification table for details. Fixed temperature reacts to heat by responding to a specific temperature setting. Mircom’s MIR-600 Series detectors use the same reliable pneumatic rate-of-rise element of former models, but offer added aesthetic appeal.
The pneumatic rate-of-rise element responds to a rapid rise in temperature, approximately 15°F (8°C) per minute, by expansion of air within the sealed chamber faster than it can escape through a calibrated vent. The resultant increase in pressure depresses the diaphragm, causing the electrical contact to close the circuit. The fixed temperature element uses a fusible alloy. When activated, the external heat collector drops away to provide quick visual confirmation that the element has operated. The units protrude only 1-3/8 inch from the ceiling surface with a junction box mounting. They have pleasing contours and an all-white finish that conforms to ceiling aesthetics.
MIR-600 Testing Methods Models MIR-601 and MIR-602 can be tested by the application of quick heat from any convenient source. A portable hair dryer is recommended. However, do not apply heat that exceeds the fixed temperature rating of the detector. Models MIR-603 and MIR-604 cannot be tested. However, the fusible alloy element is generally considered so reliable that testing is not necessary.
Features Dual Action Rate-of-Rise and Fixed Temperature • Models available Easy Installation • Visual indication• Operation Testing• Complementary, low profile white exterior finish•
Mircom reserves the right to make changes at any time without notice in prices, colours, materials, components, equipment, specifications and models and also to discontinue models.
Installation Each detector includes a patented reversible mounting plate. In one position, it easily attaches to 4” junction box, 3 1/4” octagon box or plaster ring.
In reverse, the plate can be used for open wiring without a junction box. A 1/4” space between detector and mounting surface allows for wire connections. All mounting screws are concealed.
The detector simply attaches to the mounting plate with a push and twist motion. No tools are required. The mounting plate is molded of white self-extinguishing thermoplastic rated at 221°F (105°C). The plate is extremely strong yet adapts to uneven mounting surfaces.

Pre-Installation Drain Line Cleaning
We Highly Recommend Cleaning Drain Pipes Prior to Installation!
| • | It | is | crucial | that | waterfree | urinals | be |
| installed | on | clean | drain | pipes, | free | of | |
| obstructions | and | mineral | buildup. |
| • | Drain | pipes | should | also | have | proper |
| slope, | to | allow | complete | drainage | of | |
| liquid | through | the | piping | system | after | |
| each | use. |
| • | As | with | any | other | gravity | drainage |
| system, | standing | liquid | left | in | the | |
| piping | system | due | to | obstructions, | ||
| mineral | buildup | or | improperly | sloped | ||
| pipes, | could | result | in | future | clogs. |
Recommended Equipment, Cables and Cutters
| • | Floor | model | drain | machine | with | 75’ | of |
| 3/8” | cable, | drop | head | fitting | and | 2” | |
| pipe | side | cutter | blades. |
| • | Larger | cables | and | cutters | are | preferred |
| to | remove | mineral | buildup | in | 2” | |
| piping, | but | tight | turns | in | drain | lines |
| may | prevent | their | use | in | some | cases. |
| • | In | case | of | severe | buildup, | smaller | |
| cables | and | cutters | may | need | to | be | used |
| first, | to | open | up | the | drain | lines | before |
| moving | on | to | larger | cables | and | cutters. |
Caution
| • | Over-Aggressive Cleaning | - | As | with | |||
| any | other | drain | cleaning | procedure, | |||
| care | must | be | taken | not | to | cause | damage |
| to | fragile | piping | systems. |
| • | Every Drain Cleaning Operation | |||||
| is Unique; | therefore | it | is | up | to | the |
| technician | performing | the | job | to | ||
| choose | the | proper | equipment. |

Important Installation Information
| • | Clean | 25-35 | feet | deep, | to | the |
| main | stack | if | possible. |
| • | Thoroughly | flush | the | drain |
| lines | with | water | to | remove |
| cutting | debris. |
Limpieza de Tubería de Drenaje antes de la Instalación
¡Recomendamos Ampliamente Limpiar la Tubería de Drenaje antes de la Instalación!
| • | Es | esencial | que | los | orinales | sin | agua | se |
| instalen | en | tuberías | de | drenaje | limpias, | |||
| sin | obstrucciones | ni | incrustaciones | de |
minerales.
| • | Las | tuberías | de | drenaje | deben | tener | una |
| inclinación | apropiada | para | permitir | el | |||
| drenaje | completo | del | líquido | a | través | del | |
| sistema | de | tuberías | después | de | cada | uso. |
| • | Al | igual | que | con | cualquier | otro | sistema |
| de | drenaje | por | gravedad, | el | líquido | que | |
| permanece | dentro | del | sistema | de | tubería | ||
| debido | a | obstrucciones, | incrustaciones | ||||
| de | minerales | o | tuberías | con | una | inclinación | |
| inadecuada, | pueden | taparse | en | el | futuro. |
Equipo, Cables y Cortadores Recomendados
| • | Máquina | de | drenaje | de | piso | con | cable | de |
| 22.8 | m | de | largo | (75 | pies) | de | 3/8 | pulg., |
| accesorio | de | cabeza | abatible | y | cuchillas | |||
| laterales | para | tubería | de | 2 | pulg. |
| • | Para | eliminar | las | incrustaciones | de | |
| minerales | en | tuberías | de | 2 | pulg. | |
| se | prefieren | cuchillas | y | cables | más | |
| largos, | sin | embargo, | los | giros | cerrados | |
| de | la | tubería | de | drenaje | podrían | evitar |
| el | uso | en | algunos | casos. |
| • | En | caso | de | incrustaciones | severas, | ||
| podrían | necesitarse | primero | cuchillas | y | |||
| cables | más | pequeños | para | abrir | la | tubería | |
| de | drenaje | antes | de | usar | cables | y | cuchillas |
| más | grandes. |
Precaución
• Limpieza demasiado agresiva - Al igual
| que | con | cualquier | otro | procedimiento | ||
| de | limpieza | de | drenajes, | debe | tenerse | |
| cuidado | de | no | provocar | daños | a | los |
| sistemas | de | tuberías | frágiles. |
| • | Cada operación de limpieza de drenajes | |||||
| es única; | por | lo | tanto, | la | selección | del |
| equipo | apropiado | depende | del | técnico | ||
| que | realiza | el | trabajo. |

Before Starting Installation:
Check rough-in height to achieve 24" rim height (17" rim height for ADA).
Check slope. Downhill slope, per code, is essential because waterfree urinals depend on gravity flow.
Check DWV material. Suitable materials include cast iron, PVC, ABS, and galvanized steel.
Do not install on copper DWV due to copper’s susceptibility to corrosion.
Shut off water supply and cap the nipple with the 3/4" chrome cap (provided).

Use utility knife to cut caulk, then use a putty knife and mallet to remove the bowl. Remove hanger brackets, scrape off caulk, and clean the wall.
Important: Use a drain machine to remove build-up inside pipes. Clean 25-35 feet deep then flush with water to remove cutting debris.
Clean face of existing wall flange then install the brass flange with the clear inspection disc. Slowly pour water into the drain.
Use a flashlight to check pitch/slope.
There should be no water present in the inspection disc or nipple. Remove flange after inspection.
If standing water is present, adjust drain to achieve pitch (code requires 1/4" drop per foot of drain line for proper pitch).
Seal wall according to code.
Measure and mark the rough-in. Use a 5/16" masonry bit to drill hole, then install the hanger bracket with one plastic anchor and screw.
Level the bracket then mark, drill and install two additional plastic anchors and screws. If pre-existing bearing rods can be used, screws are not necessary.
Determine the drain nipple depth by measuring the distance between the back of the sanitary tee (or elbow) to the front edge of the brass flange.
Find the drain nipple depth on the cutting chart (left) and mark the specified trim length on the insert tube at the nearest 1/4" groove.
Cut the tube at the groove using a sharp utility knife to ensure a square, flat cut. Clean burrs from the cut end with emery paper.
Apply lubricant to the outside of the rub-ber bushing and ribbed inside area. Insert the tube and bushing with the arrow tab at the top. Lube tailpipe of housing.
Place the seal into the flange with the ribs facing out. Install the flange with washers and hex nuts, but do not tighten completely.
Install the gear clamp with the screw head at the bottom, but do not tighten.
Hang the bowl on the bracket and check tail pipe alignment, then remove the bowl and adjust the bracket as needed.
Re-hang and re-check bowl alignment with the drain line. Mark anchor holes then remove the bowl without moving the hanger bracket.
Drill holes for the lower anchor screws and insert plastic anchors.
Hang the bowl, inserting tailpipe into bushing, then install anchor screws with washers. Tighten flange bolts and gear clamp.
Pour 5 gallons of water as rapidly as possible into housing to ensure good flow and no leaks or standing water.
Caulk bowl to the wall. Install the cartridge per the cartridge instruction sheet.

Find the drain nipple depth on the cutting chart (left) and mark the specified trim length on the insert tube at the nearest 1/4" groove.
Cut the tube at the groove using a sharp utility knife to ensure a square, flat cut. Clean burrs from the cut end with emery paper.
Apply lubricant to the outside of the rubber bushing and ribbed inside area.
Insert the tube and bushing with the arrow tab at the top.
Place the gear clamp and compression nut onto the housing tailpipe. Apply lubricant to the tailpipe.
Drill holes for the lower anchor screws and insert plastic anchors.
Hang the bowl, inserting tailpipe into bushing, then install anchor screws with washers.
Re-hang and re-check bowl alignment with the drain line. Mark anchor holes then remove the bowl without moving the hanger bracket.
Determine the drain nipple depth by measuring the distance between the back of the sanitary tee (or elbow) to the front edge of the nipple.
Pour 5 gallons of water as rapidly as possible into housing to ensure good flow and no leaks or standing water.
Caulk bowl to the wall. Install the cartridge per the cartridge instruction sheet.

F-1000 Waterfree Urinal
1a
Set drain line height at 15 7/8" from fin-ished floor (standard 24" rim) or 8 7/8" for ADA installation. Threaded nipple should extend 1/2 to 3/4" from wall.
1b
Carrier stud placement: If using in-wall carrier, set bearing rods as shown above.

Compliance Certifications Meets ANSI/ASME A112.19.19-2006 for vitreous china non-water urinals. Meets the American Disabilities Act guidelines and ANSI A117.1 for accessible and usable buildings and facilities. Complies with International Plumbing Code and National Standard Plumbing Code.
Housing The factory installed housing is comprised of a bowl with a tailpiece and a mounting flange of 316 Stainless Steel. It is sealed into the bowl drain opening by a profile gasket made of a synthetic rubber. The housing and gasket are compressed into the drain opening by the installation of a retaining nut, and a friction washer.
Cartridge kit The patented cartridge is engineered to last an average of three to four months in typical installations and to receive urine through drain holes. Urine passes through an immiscible layer of biodgradable sealant, continues through a siphon trap system, and flows out through a baffle to prevent the loss of sealant. A discharge tube in the housing directs the flow of urine into the building drain system. The cartridge is designed as a replaceable component when its function has been exhausted.
Drain Coupler The housing is connected to the building drain system by means of the Falcon Uni-coupler. The coupler conforms to NSF 14 for plastic pipes and fittings. It is designed to be used in both retrofit and new installations. It offers a variety of configurations which allow it to couple to most existing drain openings.
Drain Connection and Material Installs on standard 2-inch drain connections with spud flange or threaded nipple.
Suitable DWV materials include cast iron, galvanized steel, ABS, and PVC. Waterfree urinals are not recommended for installation on copper DWV due to copper’s susceptibility to corrosion.
