UT FLAP 73(1)
La Sal Mountain Loop Road
1. Q: I was wondering if a Redi-Rock would be considered as an alternative for the retaining wall.
A: Once the contract has been awarded, contact the prime contractor and have them submit a value engineering cost proposal for the use of Redi-Rock as an alternative.
2. Q: I cannot find any wire sizing or aperture requirements for the facing baskets (FHWA tends to have nonstandard requirements on baskets and struts). I also need to know if the baskets are galvanized or black wire. There is a wire mesh facing panel also detailed, but there are no specific specifications.
A: See Sheet Number G8 of the plans, note 6.
3. Q: Can the existing asphalt road be broken up and placed in the embankment?
A: Yes
4. Q: Is there a water source that we will be able to use while on this project?
A: There is no Government furnished water source.
5. Q: On sheet 257-A, bottom right detail, is the “return” shown required for EVERY vertical step in the wall? or only at the wall ends as typical?
A: The “basket return” is required on every vertical step on the MSE wall.
