QUESTION #1
In the original description of this job on fbo.gov, 20 hours of rock scaling was listed as one of the components of the work. In searching through the solicitation materials for both "rock" and "scaling", I see no mention of rock scaling in the bid schedule, the specifications or in the plans. Does this project contain any rock scaling? If so, where might I find a description of the work to be done and something that states what bid item this work is included in? Also, if the 20 hours is still accurate, is this 20 hours of a 3 man crew (which is typical) or is 20 hours of something else?
Response: There is no rock scaling on this project, the item was inadvertently left in the description on fbo.gov. Please bid per the solicitation documents.

QUESTION #2
Rumble Strips, in California these are called transverse grooves and CAL-TRANS has a Dist 2 Standard for them. For example the groove is flat on the bottom 3/8 deep all 2’ apart with a 4” paint stripe on the surface every 5TH grind. Over a 25’ length. Your rumble will not be felt because the width of some tires could be wider than the grooves. Spacing on rumble machines are 12” center to center not 14” like you state. A rumble machine cutting 90 degrees on a secondary road will not fit on the road to cut the other lane. But the recessed cutter doing the same recessed cuts on this job cuts the CAL-SPEC transverse grooves with the smaller milling machine with straight slots.
Response: As shown on Sheet V16, the rumble strips are to be transverse to the travel lanes. This detail is based on other applications from across the nation. The awarded contractor can propose alternative designs for consideration under the Value Engineering section under SCR 103.03.
QUESTION #3
There is not enough time allotted for the contract to be completed, the completion date of 12/18/15 does not provide nearly enough time for construction and submittals (SWPPP, JMF etc). Can a more realistic time frame be set within the contract such as December 2016 as a completion date? Providing that the contract is awarded sometime this Fall 2015. Please advise.
Response: The contract completion date was set using historical production rates. Note that after Labor Day, work can be done days and nights from Monday at 6 am to Friday 6 pm. The Contract Completion Date remains unchanged.
