USAF Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) Mission Brief Capt Logan Mailloux Battlespace Flight Commander
705 CTS/USAF DMOC
Kirtland AFB, NM
Gateway to Operational Excellence
This Briefing is:
UNCLASSIFIED
Overview 705 CTS Mission Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) DMOC Team 705 CTS Way Ahead
505 CCW Mission Hurlburt Field, FL
505th Command & Control Wing
505th Training Group 505th Distributed Warfare Group 505th Operations Group a
Advance, integrate, and standardize training, tactics, and testing for operational-level command of air, space, and cyber power in the joint/coalition environment C2 Through People, Processes, and Systems
Battle Command Training Program Detachment 1
The 505CCW structure is unique in several ways. It is made up of 3 groups; the 505TRG, the 505DWG, and the 505OG.
First note that, in effect, the wing has 3 “operations” groups. There are is no support group. No one group has a leading role in the mission. Each group supports others that may be in the lead for a particular task or event.
705 CTS Mission
Develop, integrate, and deliver a virtual Air, Space, and Cyber warfare environment for Air Force, Joint, and Coalition combat training; research, development, test and evaluation;
and experimentation

DMO has distributed at its core.
The ability to link together in a shared Joint & Coalition environment is at the core of training transformation.
LVC Defined Live - Real operators, real systems Virtual - Real operators, simulated systems Constructive - Simulated operators, simulated systems *Note: Real operators can make inputs to constructive simulations (e.g. White Force), giving much greater capability to the constructive forces.
Live Example: A live E-3 Sentry controlling both live and virtual exercise participants Virtual Example: A Joint STARS crew operating a Joint STARS simulator Constructive Example: Scenario Toolkit And Generation Environment (STAGE) providing Blue Air
Ref: DoD Modeling and Simulation Master Plan, October 2005; ACC CONOPS for DMT, 13 October 1998; ACC DMO CONOPS White Paper, 20 October 2003
VF does a great job in the virtual and constructive realms. Live systems that are currently incorporated are the Control and Reporting Center (CRC), and Air Support Operations Center (ASOC).
Another category to consider is manned constructives. At the DTOC and in the VF White Force, individuals simulate aircraft by playing the role of blue air constructives. This provides much greater fidelity in the training offered to the blue virtuals as they now have constructives that can manuever, answer radio calls, etc.

The networks usable for DMO activities are rapidly growing in number and capability.
The spoke and hubs represent the baseline for VFs, and we are leveraging network clouds more and more each exercise. One of the challenges is that each of these network clouds are owned, controlled (security), and funded by different agencies, and thus, are very strict about who, when, and how hooks to their network.
BLCSE: Battle Lab Collaborative Simulation Environment – Added Mar 08 (will be used for EWF) Ft Sill (Fires Battle Lab - FBL) Ft Bliss (Air Missile Defense Battle Lab - AMDBL) Ft Benning (Soldier Battle Lab - SBL) Ft Huachuca (BCBH-H) Ft Gordon (SIGCEN) Ft Leavenworth (BCBL-L/AC2 Proponent) Picatinny Arsenal (ARDEC) Huntsville/C-Springs (SMDC/SMDBL) Ft Rucker (AMBL) WCBF JACI ARCIC/JAED CDID/TCM Reps These are not all of the network clouds and nodes accessible to the DMOC, but are representative of the major connections we integrate.
NCTE – Navy’s training network BLCSE: Battle Lab Collaborative Simulation Environment DREN – Defense Research and Engineering Network DMON – DMO Network (for CAF DMO) ISDN – Commercial lines
ARCNET—AFRC/ANG— F-16
DMOC has 8 T-1 (dedicated high-speed commercial lines) to tie into additional sites/hubs
Coalition VF 10-4 DMOC integrates networks for exercise.
Monitor for security and operational functionality
Network is green with all external participants in this exercise.
This will be updated daily to note any changes to network status.
