5. Guard booth transaction tray – Is the tray to be build into the window or granite guard booth wall?
Due to the very limited space in the driveway areas and within the guard booths, the granite walls must be modified so that the transaction trays are built into the wall.
6. Will DOJ ensure or verify that the area for the bollard installation(s) is free of utilities?
Answer: No. The government has researched the building utilities and has indicated those utilities that are presently known. Reference notes 3 and 4 on contract drawings C.0.1 and C.0.2 and note that the contractor is responsible to determine if any other hidden are present.

At the Ninth Street entrance, there are two existing buried pipes. One 12 inch drain, and one 6 inch water. The intent is that the contractor will work around these existing utilities. Reference contract drawing C.0.4, detail 5 for work around design. They are buried at approximately 8 1/2 feet. These utilities were installed in 1933. The exact elevation of these lines MUST be verified by the contractor.
The contractor is not required to relocate any of these lines but shall protect the piping during the installation of the new bollard system.

18. Were there any previous security protection structures such as fix bollard, anti ram fences or hydraulic bollards installed at the 9th & 10th Street portals? If the answer is yes, are there any remaining foundations or obstructions that may be encountered when excavating for the new hydraulic bollard footing?
Answer: Pop up bollards were once installed at both the North and Tenth Street vehicular entrances. The tops of the bollards were removed HOWEVER the foundations and associated conduits are still present. It may be necessary to remove a portion of these subsurface structures during the installation of the new bollards.
19. The following general information is provided:
Reference contract drawing A.8 details 6 and 7. At the Ninth Street Vehicular entrance, the concrete portion of the duct bank shall be extend to the interior of the moat wall and individual rigid conduits will be extended to the interior of the building. EMT conduits shall extend to the final designation.
At the Tenth Street vehicular entrance, the concrete portion of the duct bank shall extend to the interior of the building (no moat present) wall and EMT conduits shall extend to the final designation.
The contractor is required per contract drawings E-1.3A and E-1.4A to install new power panels to power the HPU's. The electrical feeds for these new panels will be extended from the closets electrical room.
A concrete encased duct bank is required from each of the pop up bollards to the interior of the building (Reference contract drawing A.8). Once the duct bank enters the building, individual EMT conduits will extend to the respective final locations. (reference contract drawings E-1.1A and E-1.2A).
In the contract drawings and specifications the name "Portico" is another name for the "vehicular entrance". The duct bank begins at the pop up bollards and extends under the portico (vehicular entrance) as concrete encased and then the individual conduits extend to their final location once they enter the building.
Once you drive down the vehicular ramp, their are two loading docks and numerous personnel doors to enter the basement. All loading dock doors should be of sufficient size to move the HPU units in to their final locations. The contractor may wish to measure the double door widths to ensure easy passage of the HPU's.
The fixed granite bollards are specified under contract drawings C-O.3 and A.4.1. The existing granite bollards were installed in 1933 and as such the new granite bollards will NOT have to exactly match the existing bollards. During the submittal process, granite sample shall be submitted in order that we can match the new granite as closely as possible to the existing bollards.
The new granite bollards are to be installed to meet the same K-12 force rating as the new pop up bollards. Thus the foundation for the new granite bollards is detailed in contract drawing C.0.3, detail 2.
All Noisy work such as jack hammering shall be untaken during non business hours. Work such as the use of back hoes can normally be undertaken during normal business hours.
20. With reference to Item L. 13.1 Technical Proposal Item C. Firm’s Experience Past Performance requirement for the above noted RFP.
