This 3R project primarily consists of resurfacing SR 75 (US 231) from north of SR 73 (CMP 7.018) to north of CR 162 (Jacob Road) (CMP 10.499). Existing travel lanes, auxiliary lanes, median crossovers, and paved shoulders will be resurfaced. The typical section consists of 12' travel lanes, a grassed median, and 10' shoulders (4' outside paved shoulders). The right-of-way varies throughout the project limits. No additional right-of-way will be required.
A-13
The CONSULTANT shall take a practical approach to the project by identifying cost savings on any/all phases of the project (design and construction).
SR 75 has been designated as a “Hurricane Evacuation Route”.
SR 75 is a designated Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) highway facility. The CONSULTANT shall be responsible for identifying and obtaining any Design Variations needed for deviating from SIS criteria.
A supplemental Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Camera, including pole and cabinet, will be installed as part of this project. A CCTV Site Study will be required. The new camera shall be placed between the two existing cameras in order to provide improved video coverage of the intersection of SR 75 and CR 162. In addition, a wireless (Bluetooth) travel time detector, which is compatible with the existing Freeway Management System will be installed at that location. Refer to Section 2.16.
Per the FDOT Traffic Operations Office and the Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) Database, the posted (justified) speed limit on SR 75 is 65 mph. Any contradictions to the posted (justified) speeds described above (found posted in the field, or proposed by CONSULTANT) will require close coordination with the DEPARTMENT’s Design Project Manager and approval from the FDOT Traffic Operations Office on the project’s Typical Section Package.
Several median openings and sideroad turnouts show signs of off-tracking. These locations shall be reviewed by the CONSULTANT to determine if improvements are feasible. Recommendations for radius reconstruction should be discussed with the DEPARMENT's Design Project Manager.
All guardrail (including guardrail end anchorage assemblies and connections to bridge rail) shall be evaluated for conformance to FDOT Standards for type, height, and offset to the travel lanes and hazards. Existing guardrail shall be evaluated to determine if the length of advancement meets FDOT Standards. The guardrail should be extended if required.
