About this file
This document is a Contract Item Description specifying requirements for an Emergency Dewatering Hose Assembly (2-1/2" I.D. x 25' long) for shipboard use in Temporary Emergency Dewatering Services. The known compliant hose is identified as Kuriyama of America's Tigerflex Tiger Suction G Series G250 Heavy Duty PVC Suction Hose, though "or-equal" alternatives meeting specifications are permitted with prior approval from PSNS & IMF Code 270TS.
The technical specifications require a nonmetallic PVC tube with rigid PVC helix reinforcement, rated for 50 PSI minimum working pressure at 75°F, 210 PSI minimum burst pressure, and operating temperature range of -4°F to 150°F. The hose must be safety orange in color, UV and weather resistant for 10 years, and include brass cam & groove fittings at both ends with stainless steel crimped sleeves. Each assembly must undergo hydrostatic testing at 75 PSIG for 5 minutes, receive a unique serial number, and come with written certification of NAHAD standards compliance. Vendors must submit manufacturer cut sheets with technical specifications and may be required to provide a five-foot sample for destructive testing.
