About this file
The document is an Addendum (No. 1) for a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) Services Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the City of Newport, Oregon. This addendum provides comprehensive responses to 75 questions from potential proposers, covering various aspects of the DMO services procurement. The document clarifies key details about the project, including that the City is seeking a DMO to develop strategic marketing plans, manage brand communications, engage stakeholders, create promotional events, produce marketing content, and execute digital advertising campaigns. The RFP does not specify a fixed budget, and many responses indicate that specific details are yet to be determined, giving proposers significant flexibility in their approach.
The addendum reveals that the City currently has a contract with the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce for DMO services expiring in June 2025, and is open to innovative approaches for tourism marketing. Many of the responses suggest that the City is looking for the selected DMO to help define strategic elements such as target audiences, event strategies, content focus, and performance metrics. The City emphasizes priorities around local culture and underrepresented voices, and is open to evolution of the Discover Newport brand. While no specific budget is set, the contract will be structured for a full fiscal year, with the expectation that the DMO will help identify funding opportunities, leverage local/regional resources, and drive economic impact through sustainable and inclusive tourism development.
