The maximum resulting stump height shall typically range between cutting at ground level and stumps no taller than six (6) inches.

mowing,

b) When girdling is specified, stems shall be girdled with a chainsaw no higher than twelve inches above the ground. The cut must meet at the starting point so there is a complete girdle encircling the stem. Multiple stemmed plants shall have each stem girdled. The girdle cut must be completely through bark and cambium but minimize cut into sapwood.

c) No trees shall be girdled within 1½ times the tree’s height to site boundaries or areas accessible to the public such as trails, parking lots, day use areas, campgrounds, etc.

Stumps and/or girdles shall typically be treated with a 50% solution of glyphosate in water (using a glyphosate product with a minimum 50.2% active ingredient by volume) or a 20% solution of triclopyr ester mixed with oil (using a triclopyr ester product with a minimum 60.45% active ingredient by volume). This herbicide shall be supplied by IDNR; thus, herbicide cost shall not be included as part of the Vendor’s hourly rate bid. If other herbicides besides glyphosate and triclopyr are required, those additional herbicides shall be supplied by IDNR.

For most projects, cuts shall be filled with a 25% solution of triclopyr ester mixed with a carrier oil (using a triclopyr ester product with a minimum 60.45% active ingredient by volume). This herbicide shall be supplied by IDNR; thus, herbicide cost shall not be included as part of the Vendor’s hourly rate bid. If other herbicides besides triclopyr are required, those additional herbicides shall be supplied by IDNR.

These details will include, but are not limited to, the woody species that shall be treated, species that shall not be treated, the rate and type of herbicide and penetrating oil to be applied, method for applying herbicide, and timing of application. For most projects, a 25% solution of triclopyr ester mixed with oil (using a triclopyr ester product with a minimum 60.45% active ingredient by volume) shall be the herbicide used for basal bark application.

For multi-stemmed individuals, all stems must be treated.

e) Herbicide shall typically be applied to woody vegetation by spraying, painting, or rolling on herbicide according to directions outlined by the Contract Field Coordinator during the on-site meeting.

f) A dye shall be used in the herbicide solution to mark treated stems.

a) For this work item, a machine meeting the specifications in 1.2.5. shall cut and grind woody vegetation. These details will include, but are not limited to, which woody species shall be cut, woody species that shall not be cut, the maximum resulting stump height allowed, and the type of herbicide that shall be applied to cut stems. The maximum resulting stump height shall typically range between cutting at ground level and stumps no taller than six (6) inches.
