About this file

This is a specification document for the Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education (CARE) Program, a division of Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), detailing requirements for fishing platform dock procurement and installation. The CARE program seeks quotes for the purchase, delivery, and installation of three stationary aluminum frame dock/platform units, each measuring 6 feet by 10 feet, to be installed at three separate locations along the shoreline at the CARE Fishing Education Center in Killingworth, Connecticut. The platforms will be positioned with approximately 12 to 18 inches placed on the shoreline, with the remainder extending into the water. Delivery is required to 364 Route 80, Killingworth, Connecticut, with the delivery date and time to be coordinated with DEEP staff. This represents a second attempt for vendor selection.

Each dock/platform unit must feature a marine-grade aluminum frame supported by galvanized 1.5-inch Schedule 40 pipe legs that will be anchored into the lakebed with bracing to ensure stability. Aluminum railings are required on the two 6-foot sides and along the 10-foot side facing the water, with height adjustability via set screws. Installation must include securing the dock/platform level and plumb to all supports, with all railings and hardware installed per manufacturer specifications. The decking and ramp components are not included in this quote, as DEEP will provide these separately. Bidders should note that installation will involve significant lakebed work for anchoring and bracing to create safe, wobble-free structures.
