3.7 Wastewater Treatment Plant Description - Slide Rock State Park

3.7.1 The Slide Rock wastewater treatment plant is located in Slide Rock State Park, Sedona, Arizona. The treatment plant receives only domestic sewage and has a design flow of 8,000 gallons per day. Wastewater is generated from 2 park bathrooms and is conveyed

Wastewater Operations for Slide Rock SP

Arizona State Parks 1110 W. Washington St.

Suite 100 by gravity to a lift station. There, a screening system is designed to remove debris into a trash can. Bagged screenings will be thrown away and then hauled to a certified landfill.

3.7.2 The Slide Rock wastewater treatment facility utilizes MBR technology with conventional activated sludge and an internal mixed liquor recycle. The facility has 3 treatment basins, an anoxic zone with a submersible mixer, a pre-aeration zone with diffusers and a membrane tank with 2 MBR modules. Mixed liquor in the Membrane tank is recycled back to the anoxic zone. Permeate flows go through the membrane modules to the UV disinfection system. After being treated by ultraviolet radiation the permeate collects in two (2) 1,000 gallon holding tanks. The treated permeate is then recycled for use in the public bathrooms and/or discharged to the open meadow.

3.7.3 Waste Activated Sludge is pumped from the Membrane tank to a sludge holding tank.

The sludge is disposed via pumper truck that hauls the liquid product to the Camp Verde Sanitary District.

3.7.4 Requirement: Twenty-five (25) total hours per week with a minimum of ten (10) hours per week spent on site.
