About this file

This document is a detailed HVAC Performance Specification for furnace replacements at the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park in Skagway, Alaska. The project involves replacing one furnace at the White Pass Visitor Center and two furnaces at the White Pass Administrative Building, with specific requirements including maintaining existing ducting, using new domestic-origin materials, and ensuring UL or FM listed equipment. Key technical specifications mandate that replacement furnaces match existing units' output ratios, feature a Beckett Burner unit, and be installed with electrical shut-off switches, while adhering to International Building, Fire, and Mechanical Codes.

The specification outlines comprehensive contractor requirements, including minimum three years of experience with oil-burning furnaces, submission of qualifications and certifications, and adherence to strict safety and installation guidelines. Contractors must provide shop drawings, equipment specifications, and O&M manuals, and conduct system testing with a certified HVAC technician. The project includes a one-year warranty period, requires 24-hour advance notice for tests, and mandates that all installations prioritize maintenance accessibility and comply with local Skagway and ICC codes. The contractor will be responsible for comprehensive system commissioning, testing, and providing two hours of instruction to government representatives on system operation.
