Rubber deposits, surface laitance, and other coatings adhering to the pavement shall be completely removed. Existing paint markings are only to be removed in areas where the striping detail is to be changed from the existing detail. Where oil and grease are present on the pavements to be striped, the affected area shall be scrubbed with several applications of trisodium phosphate solution or other approved detergent or degreaser and rinsed thoroughly after each application. Damaged portions of stripes shall be removed and replaced by the Contractor without extra cost to the Government.
