About this file

This document is an Attachment J - JOMU AV Report that provides an assessment of the current audiovisual (AV) system at the John Muir National Historic Site and recommendations for a system upgrade.

The key details are:

  • The current AV rack is located in an office closet without a door and the park would prefer to not upsize to a 72" rack. The throw distance from the projector to the screen is 14'5".
  • The existing AV equipment includes a Furman power conditioner, Denon receiver, Samsung Blu-ray player, BrightSign media player, and Listen FM transmitters. The projector is a Panasonic RZ370 with a 54"x91" Da-Lite perforated screen.
  • Recommended upgrades include replacing the projector, media player, receiver, screen, speakers, and adding a control system, wireless microphone system, and front-of-theater connectivity. The screen and projector should also be repositioned to center them better in the room.
  • All existing media files were copied and will be provided to the contractor after a post-award site visit.

Goal

• Assess the current AV and prepare for AV system upgrade.

Information

• Non historic building.

• AV rack is in an office closet that does not have a door. The closet measures 54” tall to the first shelf. The park would like to keep the existing footprint and would prefer to not go to a 72” rack.

Theater left, office right

• There is conduit in the AV closet that goes up into the ceiling and then is no longer in conduit from what could be discerned.

• There is attic access in the theater room. There is not much room to get into the space, but wires could be pulled from there.

• The throw distance to the screen from the projector lens is 14’ 5”.

• AV rack o 36 ½” tall, 20 ½” wide, and 16” deep.
