About this file
This document is a sample authorization letter template for law enforcement ammunition purchases, specifically addressing California's ammunition sales regulations. The letter involves San Diego Police Equipment Co., Inc. located in San Diego, California, and is designed for use by a law enforcement agency seeking to purchase ammunition outside standard face-to-face transaction requirements.
The authorization letter provides a mechanism for law enforcement agencies to designate specific authorized personnel who can conduct ammunition purchases exempt from California Penal Code section 30312's typical transaction restrictions. The document requires signature by the agency's chief, sheriff, or head of agency to validate the authorization, and identifies specific employee(s) permitted to make ammunition purchases exclusively for the agency's use.
