About this file
This document is a Specifications Attachment for RFx 3000024600 from the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC), specifically covering window glass replacement at Allen Correctional Center in Kinder, LA. The project requires the contractor to remove and replace broken window glass in existing frames across multiple dormitories and cellblocks, with precise specifications for security-grade polycarbonate glass installation. The project involves replacing 12 windows of varying dimensions in Saturn, Mercury, Earth, Jupiter Dormitories, and Mars Cellblock, with windows ranging from 31 1/8" x 37 1/8" to 73" x 47". Work is to be performed during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM), with all contractors subject to background checks and facility security protocols.
The specifications mandate specific technical requirements for the replacement glass, including a three-ply polycarbonate detention glass with a thickness between 0.406" and 0.530", capable of withstanding a .38 special gunshot without penetration. The contractor must provide structural security framing, use polycarbonate-compatible sealants and gaskets, and ensure proper glass installation with minimum 1-inch edge engagement. Additional requirements include removing existing glazing stops, creating new mount holes, and complete waste removal upon project completion. The project emphasizes adherence to industry standards and compliance with federal, state, and local codes, with strict security measures for contractor personnel and equipment while on facility grounds.
