About this file
This document is a State of California Bid Specification for wooden pallets, specifically Bid Specification 3990-01A-01 Revision 1, issued by the California Department of General Services (DGS). The specification was last revised on February 10, 2020, and is intended for multiple agencies within the state of California seeking to procure wooden pallets for use with low lift pallet trucks or forklift trucks.
The specification details six different pallet sizes and two primary pallet types (Type 2 and Type 4), with precise dimensional requirements for each. The pallets range from 42"L x 36"W to 48"L x 48"W, and include detailed construction specifications such as minimum deck board dimensions, spacing, and placement. The document emphasizes that all pallets must be of sturdy construction and in adequate condition to ensure safe goods delivery, with specific requirements for top and bottom deck configurations. While no pricing is explicitly stated, the document serves as a standardized technical specification to guide procurement of wooden pallets across California state agencies.
