Single phase transformers shall be excited f rom a single phase source. The tests required on transformers rated 115-kV and above are as follows:

Induced (phase-to-ground) Test Voltage at the High Voltage Terminal, (Percent of Maximum Operating Voltage)

Maximum Radio Inf luence Voltage at the High-Voltage Terminal, Micro-volts

First Level - 170 percent No measurement required

Second level - 150 percent 100 micro-volts including background*

*Momentary bursts of 150 micro-volts (background peak level) will be permitted provided that the source of the bursts is external to the transformer. Such proof must be provided by utilizing the ultrasonic scheme described in IEEE Transaction Paper No. 31TP65-66, or equivalent method.

The maximum operating voltage is 1.05 times rated voltage. The induced voltage level at 170 percent of maximum operating voltage should be held for a minimum duration of 5 seconds followed by a reduced test level of 150 percent of maximum operating voltage to be held constant without interruption for a period of 1 hour.
