About this file
This document is a Technical Questionnaire for a Statewide Contract (1-25-23-17C) issued by the Department of General Services - Procurement Division for Zero-Emission Transit Buses. The contract involves New Flyer of America Inc. as the primary contractor, proposing multiple bus models across different zero-emission technologies including battery electric buses (BEB) and hydrogen fuel cell electric buses (FCEB). The technical specification covers bus models in various lengths: 35', 40', and 60' configurations.
The contract encompasses five different bus configurations: Group 2 (35' Low Floor BEB), Group 3 (40' Low Floor BEB), Group 9 (60' BEB), Group 10 (40' Low Floor FCEB), and Group 16 (60' FCEB). Each bus model features specific technical specifications including expected operating ranges, battery/hydrogen tank capacities, propulsion systems, and performance characteristics. The Xcelsior CHARGE series offers ranges from 143 to 370 miles depending on the model and power technology, with battery electric buses using 435-520 kWh batteries and fuel cell buses utilizing hydrogen tank systems ranging from 37.5 to 60 kg per bus. The buses are designed for transit and commuter applications, with a minimum useful design life of twelve years or 500,000 miles, and are compliant with various technical standards and ADA requirements.
