SECTION 07 14 13

preformed metal roof panels Part 1 - GENERAL

SUMMARY

Eel River Cooler/Wood Storage: Work includes removing and replacing metal roofing and metal ridge.

Eel River Shop and Engine Bay Maintenance: Maintenance work includes but is not limited to inspecting each corrugated metal panel for water tightness, installing gasketed fasteners and sealing metal panels where panels lap (roofing mastic/sealant shall be concealed).

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Follow metal roof manufacturers installation instructions and recommendations.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

Comply with manufacturer's recommendations for protection.

WARrANTy The manufacturer of the roof material shall warrant the product in writing for the Lifetime of the metal roof panels and accessories.

Contractor shall register the metal roofing warranty on behalf of the Government and shall provide a copy of the warranty registration and proof that the warranty registration was submitted to the manufacturer on the Governments behalf.

Registration warranty information is site specific and shall include the following, when applicable:

Part 2 - PRODUCTS Materials Preformed Metal Roof Panels 7/8” Corrugated, 24 gauge, AZ50 minimum substrate (Galvalume®/Zincalume®), 39” wide x full length panels, by Western Metal Deck or approved equal (https://www.metalroofingcalifornia.com/r-panel-metal-roof-panels.html).

PVDF/Cool-Tech 500™ color - Reclaimed Metal Rust.

Ridge Pre-formed, non-vented, PVDF/Cool-Tech 500™ color Reclaimed Metal Rust.

Fasteners and Sealant New metal roofing - All fasteners and sealants shall be of the type and size recommended by the manufacturer and shown in the installation instructions.

Existing metal roofing – All fasteners shall be gasketed and equal to or greater in length than the original fasteners. Fasteners shall be approved for metal to wood applications. All sealants shall be for exterior, metal roofing applications.

Fascia Full length, S4S, No. 2, Kiln Dry Doug Fir. Dimensions shall match existing fascia board.

Roof Sheathing CDX Plywood, 24/0, match existing thickness.

Paint Exterior, Behr Premium Plus Ultra with Primer. Match existing color and sheen.

Part 3 – EXECUTION

3.1 Construction

Preformed metal roof panels.

Preformed metal roof panels shall be full length (span from the ridge to the eve in one continuous piece) and shall be installed in accordance with manufacturers written instructions and videos.

Ridge Ridge cap trim shall be installed with required accessories and in accordance with manufacturer’s written instructions and videos.

Fascia Full length fascia boards shall be installed level and end cuts shall fit tightly together without gaps. Secure with an adequate number of wood screws to prevent warping and ensure fascia is firmly attached to building; screw head shall be flush with fascia surface. Each fascia board shall be painted with a minimum of 2 coats of paint and in accordance with paint manufacturer’s application specifications.

Roof Sheathing

0. Install plywood roof sheathing with the face grain at right angles to supports. Stagger end joints. Nail with 8d nails 6 inches on center at edges and 12 inches on center at intermediate supports.

0. Visible surfaces of plywood shall be painted to match surrounding surfaces. The exposed plywood shall be painted with a minimum of 2 coats of paint and in accordance with the paint manufacturer’s application specifications.

Maintenance to Existing Metal Panels Inspect each metal panel for missing or loose fasteners. Where fasteners are missing, install gasketed fasteners. Where fasteners are loose, remove existing fasteners and install gasketed fasteners. Gasketed fasteners shall be installed according to manufacturer’s instructions and correctly driven.

Inspect each metal panel at horizontal and vertical laps. Where panels are separating, apply sealant and gasketed fasteners to eliminate gaps. Sealant shall be applied so that it is concealed between two lapping metal panels. Any visible sealant, on any panel, shall be wiped clean immediately.

3.2INSPECTION
A.Surface to which the roofing is to be applied shall be even, smooth, sound, clean, and dry. Do not begin roofing work until surface deficiencies have been corrected.
B.If the Contractor should find damaged roof sheathing, purlins or fascia, the Contractor shall immediately notify the Contracting Officers Representative and shall provide a unit cost for the replacement of the damaged items.
C.The site shall be thoroughly cleaned of all materials and debris which may have resulted from the work described herein.

PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

4.1Method of Measurement
A.Measurement will be lump sum.
4.2Basis of Payment
A.Payment will be made under:
