About this file
This document contains an appendix outlining inspection and maintenance requirements for kitchen ventilation hoods and fire suppression systems. It provides a table summarizing the minimum NFPA inspection, test, and maintenance activities required on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and every 12 years basis according to manufacturer instructions and NFPA standards. These include inspecting nozzles, actuators, tamper indicators, maintenance tags, pressure gauges, blowoff caps, equipment modifications, power shutoffs, cleaning exhaust systems, replacing fusible alloy elements, cleaning other detection elements, inspecting detectors, containers, releasing devices, piping, and performing pressure tests, operating checks on recirculating systems, and cleaning hood plenums and blowers. Monthly and annual maintenance tags must be attached to record inspection details such as initials and dates. Manufacture and installation dates must also be marked on inspection tags for systems using fusible links.
