PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT (PWS)

Project: Install Jace 8

Location: Biosciences Research Laboratory (BRL)

1616 Albrecht Blvd N, Fargo ND 58102

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Performance Work Statement: BRL Jace 4 is failing, and BRL Jace 6 is on loan from supplier. Both are obsolete and utilize vulnerable Java plug-in software. These two units should be replaced by one Jace 8 BAS unit running HTML5, alleviating Java software vulnerability.

Supplier will prepare programming and graphics then install.

2.0 Background: Current Jace equipment is obsolete, failing, and utilize discontinued and vulnerable software and should be replaced without delay. The Jace 8 system controller integrates information from all facility HVAC systems and sensors for the building automation system (BAS), and gets disparate parts to communicate with each other. It takes the information from our Simplex Fire alarm panel and converts it to our BAS software program. Most of the setpoints are related to our HVAC controllers. Originally run on Java, (JACE stands for Java Application Control Engine) the new Jace systems out of necessity move away from Java as that system is no longer secure and, those systems ran on Internet Explorer, which is unsupported, insecure, and soon abandoned.

The JACE 8 is at the heart of a facility’s systems, allowing HVAC to dynamically change, alarm, report as necessary. It is the backbone for controlling heating, cooling, ventilation.
