DESCRIPTION:

Bid Line Scope Description Base bid Install Grinder Pump Sanitary line has insufficient change in elevation between the building cleanout and the nearest manhole discharge location.

Base bid Repair two (2) catch basins Catch basins separated from pavement Base bid Repair one manhole Manhole rim damaged Option 1 Replace a fire hydrant Building 19.

Option 2 Repair three fire hydrants Fire hydrants spray and leak when opened.

1. PROJECT SCOPE

1.1. Install grinder pump at Building 2A

1.1.1. Contractor is to excavate the area immediately outside of building 2A to approximately 6 to 7 feet in depth. OSHA compliant excavation protection and procedures are to be utilized. Excavation area is near a high traffic flow entranceway.

1.1.2. The existing cleanout structure is not positioned properly (currently tilted) and is to be removed and replaced with a new 4” cleanout that will be purchased and installed by the Contractor. Cleanout discharge piping is to connect to grinder pump, potentially with elbows to create a clean sweep and prevent potential clogging of solids prior to grinder pump inlet. Design and all connection fittings to be approved by COR prior to installation.

1.1.3. Contractor to purchase and install a new fully contained grinder pump station that contains a grinder pump, check valve, high density polyethylene (HDPE) tank, controls and alarm panel. Grinder pump is to have the following specifications:

1.1.3.1. Rated for flows of 700 gallons per day (gpd)

1.1.3.2. Holding capacity of 70 gallons

1.1.3.3. Outdoor installation

1.1.3.4. Hardwired model where the cable connects the motor controls to the level controls through watertight penetrations.

1.1.3.5. Concrete ballast to be installed with grinder pump tank to prevent buoyancy per manufacturer’s directions.

1.1.3.6. Grinder pump to be an eOne Extreme Series DH071, or equivalent per

Attachment 1.

1.1.3.7. Motor to be a 1 hp, 1,725 rpm, high torque, capacitor start, thermally protected, 120/240V, 60 Hz, 1 phase.

1.1.4. Contractor to install a new electric line from grinder pump to electric panel within

Building 2A electrical room. Installation will involve above ceiling work and routing a line between walls.

1.1.5. Contractor to install an alarm panel for high water on the outside of the building, or in a location approved by the COR.

1.1.6. Grinder pump to have a certified start-up with pressure testing by an independent contractor. Cost of start-up and testing is to be included in bid pricing by Contractor.

Contractor to arrange for testing.

1.1.7. Contractor to provide an as-built sketch of installation, 10-yr warranty (or longer) for grinder pump, and operation and maintenance manuals.

1.1.8. Outlet of grinder pump to have a lateral kit purchased and installed (see Attachment 2, or equivalent), and then discharge to enter a new 2” sewer line that will be positioned inside of an existing 6” sewer line. New sewer line is approximately 80’ long. The distances shall be verified by the contractor.

1.1.9. Manufacturer installation instructions should be followed. E-One instructions are included in Attachment 3. Alternate equivalents may be approved by the COR through a submittal process. Submittal to include manufacturer installation instructions.

1.1.10. All the wiring shall be in conduit except 12” loop left of cable left to allow for shifting and settling.

1.1.11. Bedding material shall be 6” of round aggregate ¾” max.

1.1.12. Final discharge piping modifications and concrete sealing at manhole is to occur to prevent content from discharge manhole from entering space between existing 6” SDR sewer line and new 2” discharge line from the grinder pump. Sealant is to be watertight.

1.1.13. Discharge within manhole shall be directed to downstream manhole outlet by installing PVC elbows as required. Design shall be approved by COR prior to installation and should not hinder flow from other locations that are discharging into the manhole.

1.1.14. Confined space entry will be required by Contractor. This manhole also receives sanitary waste from multiple other buildings (Building 1, Building 2A new addition, and lift station discharge that serves the fire station, POL facility, and vehicle maintenance). Work must be coordinated to occur within manhole on an alternating work schedule (AWS) day. AWS days occur in the base work schedule approximately one Friday, every two weeks. Schedule will be provided by COR to Contractor prior to the pre-construction meeting.

1.1.15. Site map is below. Currently, there is a 4” line exiting the building. The 4” line enters a cleanout that is improperly positioned. The distance between the cleanout and the closest sanitary manhole is approximately 75’. Currently, there is a 6” diameter SDR line between the cleanout and the manhole.

1.1.16. Contractor shall backfill using Class 1B, apply topsoil to grade, and seed. Complete contract payment will not be made until growth of seed is 90%, and all loose soil has been stabilized.

1.1.17. Backfill/grade must slope away from the cover.

1.1.18. Contractor shall insure no standing or trapped water are in inlet or discharge lines that are above the frostline.

1.1.19. Do not use existing soil as backfill.
