About this file

This document is Amendment 1 for a solicitation issued by the South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) for fire extinguisher inspections, testing, and replacements. The procurement covers comprehensive fire extinguisher services across multiple statewide correctional facilities, with a total inventory of 4,035 fire extinguishers spanning various types and sizes including ABC (2.5 lb, 5 lb, 10 lb, 20 lb), Water Type K, and other models. The solicitation was issued on 09/15/2025, with a bid submission deadline of 10/09/2025 at 10:00 a.m., and an anticipated award date of 10/16/2025. The contract appears to be for a one-year term with potential renewal options, covering fire extinguisher services at 25 different SCDC locations including institutions, facilities, administrative offices, and specialized units.

The solicitation indicates a contract value exceeding $500,000, suggesting significant scope and complexity. The amendment includes a detailed breakdown of fire extinguisher quantities by location, type, and contact person, demonstrating the comprehensive nature of the service requirement. Vendor responsibilities include not only inspection and testing but also disposal of extinguishers taken out of service. No specific set-asides or vendor preferences are explicitly outlined, and the procurement appears to be open to competitive bidding. Vendors will need to demonstrate capability to service fire extinguishers across diverse correctional environments while maintaining strict safety and compliance standards. The procurement process emphasizes technical capability, pricing, and proven performance as key selection criteria.
