Amendment 000004

Amendment 000004 Sage Barracks Renovation – Solicitation AG-9AC7-S-17-0029

Question 1: What permits are required for this project?

Response: No outside approvals (except by the Forest Service) or permits will be required except that which may be associated with abatement and disposal of friable asbestos.

Question 2: Section 106010 general provisions electrical: Scope 1.1-D Calls for a commercial multi metered service panel with commercial by-pass, is this correct and why multi metered?

Response: In general, be sure you are referencing the current posted solicitation documents. However, this is an error on Amendment No 3 “Revised Specs_2_4_06_2017_reduced.pdf”. There is no requirement for a commercial multi-metered service panel or bypass. The proposed electrical system is to upgrade the electrical service to the building from its current 100 amp service and circuits to a new 200 amp residential service and all new circuits (verify final panel location with utility company prior to setting panel and other wiring to avoid possible conflict with roof or service location) including circuits for a new heat pump, and air handling system. Coordinate with electrical utility company for the upgraded new service and meter. If the utility company requires upgrades to their system (e.g., transformer or overhead conductor upgrades) that require fees to be paid, then notify the Contracting Officer for resolution without delay. Remove existing 2-wire electrical system throughout house. Install 2-wire (plus ground), and 3-wire (plus ground) as applicable, non-metallic sheathed cable electrical throughout building according to electrical plans and in accordance with section 16050; install conductors in conduits where required in accordance with current electrical codes for residential construction; install new 2-inch galvanized rigid steel conduit riser and weather-head through roof Gable with (3) #4/0 AWG cross-linked high heat water resistant insulated copper wire for connection with electrical utility service. Electrical work to be in accordance with Technical Specification Sections 16010, 16050, and 16400, 16510, and the Electrical Plan, as applicable.

Delete items B, C & D under of “Section 16010 General Electrical Provisions, Part 1- General, 1.1 Scope” as they are either erroneous or covered elsewhere in the specifications.

Question 3: Section 16400: Service and distribution - Part 1-General 1.01-A Calls for 400/amp multi metered service panel is this correct and why 400/amps?

Response: Be sure you are referencing the current posted solicitation documents. Amendment 3 included the correction to a 200 amp residential metered service in Section 16400. Also see response to Question 2 above.

Question 4: Section 16050: Basic electrical material and methods: Part 2-Products 2.1 Shows all conduit, no romex is this correct?

Response: The intent is to install a new residential electrical system (replacement) consistent with current electrical codes. Non-metallic sheathed cable is expected throughout building except where current electrical codes require conductors be installed in conduit or raceways for residential electrical systems.
