Amendment 01

Q1: 100 horsepower? I'm getting ready to use a 99.2 HP 870 bobcat with a mulcher to clear 4 acres of cedar trees. My question is we will be mulching trees 12" but if we hit another we will be charged for it. I understand the horsepower part but I'm thinking we would want a more compact piece of equipment in there between trees. I have not seen the sites but I'm guessing some areas are more open than others. So the bigger the horsepower bigger the machine.

A1: The areas that we plan on treating with this contract generally are well spaced between dominant/co-dominant overstory trees to be protected (averages approximately 25 feet between trees to protect). With the sites planned for this type of work, the bigger sized equipment is not anticipated to be a problem. Contractor will be responsible for notifying the COR or CO if upon receipt of Task Order the contractor is concerned about not being able to perform without damaging trees that are not included in the work. Contractor MAY be held liable for damage to trees if it is evident that the damage was due to contractor negligence and/or no effort to notify the COR or CO.

Q2: What time of year would do you think you would want to do this?

A2: Work may be done/Task Orders may be issued any time of the year. The work will be dependent on weather/ground conditions. The COR will not issue a Notice to Proceed until the weather/ground conditions are such that work can be done.

Q3: Is this a 1 time a year on mulching are would you want to do it twice a year?

A3: It is possible that each District could issue multiple Task Orders during the same year. It is all dependent on available funding.
