Q&A’s
June 14, 2012
Q: Is the trail Government or privately owned (or both)? If both, will we have access to the sections that are privately owned without contacting the owner directly? Will compensation be given to the contractor if the private land owner charges?
A: Both, landowner must be contacted.
Q: How many data points need to be collected over the 400 mile distance and at what increments of measure? Feet, Yards, Half Mile, Mile? (bid item 1)
A: Data points are campsites, trailheads, bridges, etc. They are random along the Trail.
Q: Of the 50 mile increments, are these points of collection to be provided to the contractor or, be collected every 8 miles to achieve the 50 mile increments, or are they pre-determined and if so will they be provided to the contractor before proposal due date or after award? (line item 2 & 3)
A: These are not increments. The 50 miles is the estimated quantity to be assessed. Sections of trail will be provided.
Q: If obstacles such as downed trees, washouts, etc.. are we to remove, leave, or submit a change order for removal?
A: No maintenance in this contract. It is an assessment contract.
Q: In reading the specs, there is no mention of mapping to be provided in the final product. Is this the case, or, should the contractor provide maps with the depiction of the points collected or only the shape files and the requirements for line item 2&3?
A: The contractor will provide shape files for item 1 and written and mapped assessments for item 2 and 3.
