Renovate Hydraulic Bldg. ARS-6

Questions and Answers

1. Could you please tell me if there are any liquidated damages associated with this project? There are no liquidated damages associated with this contract.

2. All Plans are posted as 8 ½ by 11’s will larger prints be posted? For bidding purposes you will need to go to your local copy store and ask to get them enlarged. The originals were in 11” X 17”.

3. Are marked up record drawings only required, or will CAD drawings be provided and corrected CAD files be required also? The only requirement is marked-up (“Red - lines”) presented in a neat & clear fashion.

4. During replacement of roof and wall panels in phase A will the building be in use? Will it have to be kept water tight during demo and replacement? The building should be “closed for construction” during Phase A. Only the Contractor will have access. Weather protection shall be maintained during demolition & replacement of exterior panels. A “Phasing” Plan by the Contractor showing small increments of demo & replacement (especially for the roof) would be highly desirable.

5. What is the “R” value or thickness of the metal building insulation? Should be a minimum of 3” insulation.

6. Specification states project schedule as indicated in section 13200, but there is no 13200 included. Will a “Bar” or “Gant” chart be acceptable? A Bar or Gant Schedule showing each distinguished activity will be acceptable.

7. Reference sheet A1.3/note 9 states overhead door opener, track, spring, ETC to remain. Note 8 states replace door and track. Typically the track and springs are replaced when the door sections are replaced. Please clarify.

Replace the Doors, Track & Springs and reuse existing openers.

8. Ref. Sheet A1.4, detail 1. Shows 8” galv. steel stud at 48” A.F.F. What is the gage required? Can a 8” Red Oxide steel “C” be substituted? 20 Gauge (.035” thick). Yes, Red Oxide steel “C” can be substituted.

9. Sheet A1.4, detail 1. What is the gage required for the 6” galv. Stl. Stud at floor? See Response to Question 7 for sill angles.

10. Please confirm that the liner panels are to be 22 ga. 24” wide Metal panel with siliconized factory colored finish.

Specifications 074213-6, 2.5, 2. Indicates 22 gauge, zinc-coated steel sheet with siliconized polyester finish. The finish color for the interior liner panels shall be white. The specification also indicates 24” panel overage and 1.5 or 2.0 inch panel height.

11. The existing roof has a formed ridge panel to match the roof panel. A cheaper but less desirable option used in the metal building industry is a flashing formed to the pitch of the roof with closure strips between the roof panel and the ridge flashing. The drawings and specs do not indicate either. Please confirm that the USDA requires to match existing. Ridge Capping is only indicated in Specification 074113 paragraphs 2.5 A. 1. & B “Closures”, and 3.3 B.6. The requirements shall be to match existing. The existing is a formed ridge cap that matches the roof panels.
