Colonial Drive” Site- EWP 2010

Contracting Contact: Lauri Eipp Site Showing Technical Contact: Mike Shinnick

This is a Federal contract administered by NRCS. Materials and supplies are subject to NYS sales tax. A 20% bid bond is required. 100% performance and payment bonds are also required by the successful bidder if award is over $100,000. The bid opening is August 25th. A Safety Plan is required and someone who is certified in First Aid must be present on-site at all times. Contractors should be sure that the form 1442, Bid Schedule, Amendment acknowledgments (if any) and Section K are complete and properly signed.

We don’t assess liquidated damages on EWP projects, and never have. We’d call on the performance bond or default the contractor.

The project includes 600 ft. of rock riprap all the way to the new CNMP culvert, tieing into existing rock around culvert. The alignment will not follow the existing alignment but it will still be curved. Any trees within the footprint of the rock placement will be removed and properly disposed of off-site along with other large trees and debris in the channel or floodplain within the project limits. Gravel fill will come from gravel bars within the project limits (which does not include the large gravel/sand deposit upstream of the project limits. Five stream barbs will be installed. An Erosion & Sediment Control Plan including dewatering is required. There is a major NFG gas pipeline passing through the construction limits. Public water services the area (note the hydrants). The residence is serviced by a private septic system to the west of the house away from the creek bank. As will all projects, Dig Safely (811) notification is required. We expect NFG will want to be on-site during construction and any time the pipeline is being crossed. We do not know the depth of the pipeline.

Sheet 5 of 7 will be removed through an amendment which will be posted soon. Revised drawings will be posted to show a more typical key configuration which will be the same length but constructed without the deep excavations and rock fill nearly to the surface suggested in the current sheet 5 of 7.

Contractor is responsible for all plantings, seeding, and willow live stakes and whips. NRCS will stake out the job for construct and will check elevations and alignments but the contract is responsible for routine grade control.

The contractor should not bury any drains/culverts so that the sponsor can make sure culverts and drain outlets are reconnected and free flowing, extending outlets as necessary.
