Bald Mountain Lookout – Stripping existing membrane and sheeting off roof to expose rafters and resheating with ¾” cdx plywood and installing a new PVC roofing system, and upgrading existing lightning protection system to comply with NFPA 780.

1.2 LOCATION

A. Indian Hill Lookout - The project site is located on Indian Hill on the Moose Creek Ranger district. From Kooskia, ID travel approximately 24 miles east on Hwy 12, turn right onto County Road 223 (Selway River Road) and follow for approximately 18.5 miles, turn right onto FS Road 443 and follow for 1.4 miles, stay left to get onto FS Road 290 and follow for 12.6 miles to the terminus and project site.

Bald Mountain Lookout – This project is located at the Bald Mountain lookout at the end of the 377A road. From Potlatch Idaho take scenic Hwy 6 east, approximately 21 miles, to the Palouse Divide. At the Palouse Divide turn right onto USFS Road 377.

Take USFS Road 377, approximately 7miles to the junction of USFS Roads 377 and 377A. The Junction of USFS Roads 377 and 377A take a sharp right onto USFS Road 377A and drive to the end of the road, approximately 1 mile.

01025-2

MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

5. The Contractor shall certify in writing as to the accuracy of the measurements and computations submitted.

C. The following measurements and calculations are used to determine contract quantities.

1. For individual construction items, longitudinal and lateral measurements for area computations shall be made horizontally or corrected to horizontal measurement unless otherwise specified. Measurements for geotextiles, netting and erosion control blankets shall be along slope lines.

2. The average end area method shall be used to compute volumes of excavation or embankment. However, if in the judgment of the Contracting Officer (CO), the average end area method is impractical, measurement shall be made by volume in hauling vehicles or by other three dimensional methods.

3. Structures shall be measured according to neat lines shown on the drawings or as altered by the CO, in writing, to fit field conditions.

4. For items that are measured by the linear foot, such as pipe culverts, fencing, guardrail, and underdrains, measurements shall be made parallel to the base or foundation upon which the structures are placed. Pipes shall be measured along center of invert.

5. For aggregates measured for payment, the cubic yards shall be measure in place and compacted using the average end area method.

6. For standard manufactured items--such as fence, wire, plates, rolled shapes, pipe conduits--identified by gauge, weight, section dimensions, and so forth, such identifications shall be considered the nominal weights or dimensions. Unless controlled by tolerances in cited specifications, manufacturer's tolerances shall be accepted.

1.3 UNITS OF MEASUREMENT

A. Payment shall be by units defined and determined according to U.S. Standard measure and by the following:

B. Cubic Yard: A measurement computed by one of the following methods:
