Drained and purged repairable engines and fuel devices are not hazardous for transportation and a Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods is not required. A completed DD Form 1387 (Military Shipping Label) must state that the item is "nonhazardous."
Restraint Procedures
Restrain both engine and cradle in accordance with Chapter 4 of this manual.
Offloading Procedures
Offloading procedures are essentially the reverse of loading procedures.
PROPELLER, FOUR-BLADE, C-130
Description
This section contains the instructions for loading, restraint, and offloading of the C-130 four-blade propeller with dolly.
Onloading Procedures
Exercise caution when onloading/offloading because of critical clearance in the ramp area.
1. The C-130 propeller can be palletized and loaded from either a K-loader or a flat bed truck. It can also be floor loaded from a K-loader, flat bed truck or winched up the ramp.
2. For aircraft with ramp air deflectors (AC-130W/ MC-130) installed, the propeller must be in the hor-izontal position for on/off loading.
3. The entire prop may be rotated either clockwise or counterclockwise to facilitate loading.
4. If it is necessary to change the angle of the blades, change blades No. 2, 3, or 4 (the blades are num-bered near the base).
Do not change the blade angle of blade No. 1.
Blade No. 1 is the master index blade. Move-ment of the blade will result in misalignment of the internal mechanism and an unusable propel-ler.
5. Close the paratroop doors if the propeller is to be loaded in pallet position 1 through 5.
6. If the propeller is to be loaded in pallet position 6, load the propeller so that the dome assembly is facing aft.
Restraint Procedures
1. For palletized cargo, ensure that the dolly is secured to the pallet. Use straps to provide additional restraint to prevent prop rotation.
2. When floor loading a dolly without stabilizing pads (part number 3400847), place 3/4-inch shoring under each wheel.
NOTE
When a dolly with stabilizing pads (KWD dolly, part number 207-000-101/207-000-104) is to be floor loaded, lower stabilizing jack pads to the floor once the dolly is in position. Place ply-wood shoring under each jack pad to prevent damage to the floor.
NOTE
The maximum weight of a floor loaded propel-ler and dolly is 2,500 pounds.
3. When the prop is mounted on a KWD dolly and is in place, lower the lift plate to the rest pad.
Offloading Procedures
Offloading procedures are essentially the reverse of loading procedures.
