Picture examples for USFS landing crew boat design
The overall length of this vessel including a swim step transom and outboard motors should not exceed 32 feet. This boat shall be capable of shallow draft operations in rough seas (6-8 feet wave height), in Prince William Sound Alaska while allowing for regular shore landings to load and unload materials and people directly from an open forward deck on the boat to shore via a narrow, (36 inches minimum to 42 inches maximum), drop bow door. Tall gunnel sides and narrow bow door are preferred over a traditional landing craft for increased seaworthiness and to minimize the exposure of a large bow door.
AG-0120-S-15-0014- Welded Aluminum Landing Crew Boat Package- US Forest Service
A full beam walk through cabin that seats 6-8 total persons. The cabin length and location shall maximize forward open deck space while still providing room for safe access to the swim step and outboard motor transom area via a very small rear deck or other means. The open forward deck space should accommodate materials such as stacked pieces of 4x8 plywood and dimensional lumber up to 12 feet in length.
Interior cabin layout consists of two air ride seats elevated with accessible storage underneath for both captain and co-pilot.
Two bench seats measuring at least 60 inches in length with accessible storage underneath along the cabin sides.
In-swing deck access doors on port and starboard sides. Bow Anchor Pulpit with electric anchor puller mounted and locker storage of anchor line and chain.
Propane bottle rack example. Two racks, (port and starboard), need to securely hold eight (8) total 40# Worthington aluminum vertical propane cylinders measuring 32.06 inches height and 12.25 inches diameter. The racks should be removable or fold down similar to picture above. Radar arch allow clearance for roof top storage of multiple seas kayaks.
Grab rail / tie down rails installed on both sides of cabin roof along with a roof access ladder.
