Q&A Question #1) The bridge that is to be removed and transported to Kuiu will need to be sent up there by charter barge as there is no mainline barge service for delivery. Charter barge cost from Ketchikan to Hollis (closest place to load) and then to Kuiu and back to Ketchikan will be nearly $65,000.00. My suggestion would be, since the Kuiu Road & Bridge Reconstruction has just been awarded ( Solicitation AG-0120-S-14-0011) and the contractor, has to pick up bridges in Thorne Bay to transport to The Kuiu site, would it not be a cost savings to the government to include this bridge in with the ones that he is scheduled to move? I just don't think there is enough $ in this RFP budget to cover a charter barge for a bridge move.
Answer: Ketchikan Redi Mix was the successful bidder for Kuiu Road & Bridge Reconstruction (Solicitation AG-0120-S-14-0011) The Bidders on the solicitation for POW Bridge Removal could contact Ketchikan Redi Mix for pricing to include these bridge moves. The moves were included in the engineers estimate.
Question # 2) FSSS- 104- Control of Work subsection 104.07 states that FHWA intends to award contract approx 5 miles north of the project. Schedule activities to assure no delays or interference to the operations of the FHWA. Please provide details as to when this work is scheduled to begin, will there be road closures associated with their work, does the FS anticipate this work will cause delays for the contractor in this solicitation?
Answer:
104.07 Other Contracts.
Example: The Federal Highway Administration is administering and is intending to award a contract for the reconstruction of 3 1/2 miles of Salmon la Sac Road approximately 5 miles north of this project. Schedule activities to assure no delays or interference to the operations of the Federal Highway Administration contract.
The above FSSS is an example only. There are no other Forest Service Contracts at This time that effect this contract, however there are ADOT contracts that may (ADOT Phone: 907-465-3900). If there are other Contracts that require cooperation between Contractors please see
FAR 52.236-8
Question #3)FSSS- 171- Weed Prevention- Does a contractor that has equipment on POW working presently under contract for the FS, need to comply with this section?
Answer:
