About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for R.S. Harritan & Company, Inc. to remove, ship, inspect, rebuild, and reinstall two vacuum pumps at NASA Langley Research Center Building B1148.
The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, and supervision to safely remove the pumps using facility-provided rigging points, construct shipping crates, coordinate shipment to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for teardown and inspection, perform authorized rebuilds based on OEM findings and NASA approval, reinstall the pumps, and conduct operational checks to verify functionality. The NASA facility team is responsible for disconnecting electrical and control wiring, draining and refilling fluids, and removing and reinstalling drive belts. Environmental requirements mandate compliance with NASA, EPA, and state regulations for waste oil disposal, with personnel required to wear Tychem suits, nitrile gloves, goggles, and face shields when handling pump oil due to identified skin absorption hazards. Waste management must comply with LaRC Spec 01 35 40.00 41 and LPR 8500. The contractor must provide technical submittals including a safety plan, worker qualifications (mechanical/electrical/welding), equipment data sheets, a lifting/critical lift plan, and an inspection findings report prior to work commencement, with additional submittals required before final acceptance including a project materials usage spreadsheet, final acceptance test results, and warranty information. Work is scheduled for October/November or as coordinated with the NASA Facility Manager, with deliverables including rebuilt and installed pumps, the completed OEM inspection report, all required technical submittals, final acceptance test results, and warranty documentation covering all rebuilt components.
