About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details maintenance services for a Hitachi S-4700 Scanning Electron Microscope (Serial Number 6059-03). The contractor is required to provide comprehensive preventive maintenance, including cleaning the instrument, inspecting and replacing vacuum pump components, hoses, and lines, performing column alignment, and making necessary modifications to maintain original equipment performance specifications. The service includes unlimited emergency visits and technical phone support during regular business hours (8:00am - 5:00 pm), with a commitment to respond within two working days for breakdowns that render the instrument inoperable.

The maintenance service will be performed by factory-trained service engineers and will cover labor, travel, living expenses, and replacement of most defective components. The government retains the ability to conduct basic maintenance like cleaning/replacing apertures and o-rings, and can attempt simple repairs under the contractor's telephone guidance. Parts not covered include consumable items, moveable and fixed apertures, scintillators, and energy dispersive x-ray detectors (unless caused by instrument malfunction). The contractor must exchange or modify components when in the best interest of the government, subject to approval by the Contracting Officer or Contracting Officer's Representative.
