GeoXO Atmospheric Composition RFP Questions and Answers #1

Question 1 - Document: GeoXO ACXPORD, General question on Modes (e.g., requirement IDs ACXPORD70 through ACXPORD78), is it the government’s expectation that designated Modes (Diagnostic Mode is just an example) are entered via Mode transition commands and drive a change in the internal state of the instrument, these to be followed by additional detailed commands?

Answer to Question 1 – ACXPORD71 requires an instrument diagnostic mode, in addition to the normal mode of ACXPORD68. ACXPORD70-78 include required diagnostic mode commands such as downlinking data subsets. The instrument needs to transition into diagnostic mode to respond to these commands.

Question 2 - Document: GeoXO ACXPORD, Outgas Mode (i.e., requirement ID ACXPORD80) What active response(s) does the government envision when the instrument is commended to the Outgas Mode? What is the relationship between the Outgas Mode and the Diagnostic Mode that is implied in the Rationale that appears below the requirement?

Answer to Question 2 – The government expects that ACX, including its heaters, are configured to reach temperatures to sublimate contaminants. It should be possible to transition from diagnostic mode to outgas mode. A future version of the PORD will clarify the rationale for ACXPORD80.
