Whiteriver Backup Generator
Item # Section and Page # Question Response
1 Sheet AE-100 Elevation B notes chain link fencing with Privacy Slats, Match Existing; Can the Government provide specifications for the Privacy Slats as there is no fencing around the new generator pad with privacy slats? We have a recommendation to use Noodle Link Plus – 2” Mesh – Factory Installed Slats.
The Recommended privacy slats are acceptable.
2 Can the Government verify the width, length, and height of the backup generator at Hopi Healthcare Center (HHCC)? The HHCC appears to be 12’ wide and 35’ long.
The generator enclosure is 11’ W x 26’ L.
3 Can the government verify the fuel type, make, and model of the HHCC Generator?
Kohler 1000REOZM Diesel.
4 Are the landing and stairs attached to the HHCC generator to be relocated with the generator? If yes, is the contractor to incorporate them into the new 6’-0” apron?
No, the stairs will not be relocated with the generator.
GC shall provide prefabricated steps to access the generator.
5 If the landing and stairs are to be incorporated into the new apron, will the contractor be required to add additional footings for the landing and stairs?
Yes
6 If footings for the relocated landing and stairs are required, is the contractor responsible for the structural engineering for these footings?
Yes
7 Sheet E-201 indicates a double-door location with a light and plug to be installed by the contractor. The door configuration shown for the enclosure is not consistent with the HHCC generator enclosure. Is the contractor to install and light and plug at each door?
The generator as drawn in plan is a generic layout and differs from the actual generator. The contractor will be required to install lights such that all doors are covered with egress lighting whether they are egress doors or not.
Provide minimum of (1) receptacle installed on north and
(1) receptacle installed on south side of generator.
8 Are both the existing generator and the new generator required to operate at the same time?
There is no equipment shown on the plans to synchronize the two generators.
No, they will not run at the same time. No synchronization equipment is required.
9 Are there special certifications or engineering requirements for fireproofing of rated wall penetrations?
Existing wall ratings must be maintained. Where penetrations are through rated walls provide UL listed fire proofing.
10 Will the AHJ have to inspect the fireproofing system for rated penetrations at each stage? For example; spacing between the opening and through penetrations, mineral wool packing, and fire caulking.
Yes, all penetrations shall be inspected. If the penetration is easily accessible, multiple penetrations can be inspected at once.
