Questions and Answers

Battelle
2. What is the current contract number?
200–2014–57736
3. Is there an estimated weekly or monthly usage available for each of the line items?
The Government does not have exact estimates, as usage is reduced from the previous contract. The Government’s current estimate is as follows.
Dry Ice
Campus Estimate Timeframe
CDC – Roybal 7,700 lbs. weekly
CDC – Chamblee 2,200 lbs. weekly
CDC – Lawrenceville 1,100 lbs. weekly

Campus Estimate Timeframe
CDC – Roybal 6,000 lbs. weekly

There are three Government-owned, stationary tanks at the Government facility.
5. How many deliveries are required to each CDC site location each week?
The Government does not know the exact delivery dates required, as deliveries will depend on the Government’s known need. The Government estimates one (1) delivery per week, but there could be two (2) deliveries needed on occasion.
6. What is the estimated delivery quantity of each dry ice product to each CDC site location?
Dry Ice
Campus Estimate Timeframe pellet block
CDC – Roybal 5,500 lbs. 2,200 lbs. weekly

7. Is the dry ice pellet the standard pellet product (approximately 1/2" in diameter)? If not, what type of dry ice pellet product is required?
The pellet size required is the standard size, approximately ½″ in diameter.
8. What is the requested size of the dry ice block? If it is cut block is the product wrapped or naked (unwrapped)?
The Government’s requirement is for naked 10x10x12″ blocks, each sliced into four (4) pieces. A piece of plastic shall be placed between the layers of dry ice. The current Contractor supplies storage bins that hold 8–10 blocks of ice.
9. Are the dry ice containers to be supplied by the vendor? If vendor supplied, what type of container is desired?
Yes, the Vendor shall supply the dry ice containers. Historically, the Contractor has provided the HR 11 (sometimes called PBX11) insulated Containers (blue bins) with wheels that hold about 500 lbs. of pelleted ice. The Government’s expectation is that the Vendor will deliver dry ice in the bins and pick up used bins at the same time.
