Amendment 00001 Date: 04/23/2019
1Q: On Sheet C601 for the PCC Crack Repair, both the medium and high severity cracks in the concrete pavement, there are references to Detail C2 on Sheet C807. On Sheet C807 there is no Detail C2. Please clarify the requirements for repairing the medium and high severity cracks in the PCCP on Taxiway-B.
1A: Inadvertent typographical error. For these references, amend “Detail C2 on Sheet C807” to read “Detail C3 on Sheet C805”.
2Q: On Sheet C808, Detail A2, there is a build note A 1. Does this mean that once 4" x 18" paving has been removed parallel to the Large Asphalt Crack, the remainder of the crack is to be sealed in accordance with Detail A1 on Sheet C808? What will be the procedure if the crack is wider than 1 ½" once the top four inches of pavement has been removed?
2A: Yes, once 4 inches has been removed, treat the remainder of the crack in accordance with Detail A1 on Sheet C808.
If crack at 4 inches is still larger than 1 ½ inches, it should still be treated in accordance with Detail A1.
3Q: On Page 30 of Specifications Section 32 13 14.13, there is a requirement for, “Specified flexural strength, R, for concrete is 5000 psi at 28 days”. Can you confirm whether or not this is a compressive strength requirement for the concrete, or a flexural strength requirement?
3A: It is a flexural strength requirement, but it is an error. For this application, amend “5,000 psi” to read “650 psi”.
4Q: On drawing Q801, under lighted barricade notes, #10 indicates “Barricades used on project shall become property of the airport at the completion of the project. The contractor shall deliver the barricades to a location on the airport as instructed by the director”. Please advise if these barricades need to be delivered if the barricades are rented.
4A: As stated, barricades shall become property of the airport upon completion of the project. Therefore, renting barricades is not an option. Please bid accordingly.
5Q: During the pre-bid site meeting, it was stated this is a sealed bid. With that said, please provide instructions for dropping off the bid opposed to mailing. Please also provide security access for bid drop off.
5A: Sealed bid packages shall be delivered to:
USCG Civil Engineering Unit Providence 475 Kilvert Street Suite 100 (Building A) Warwick, RI 02886
Bids may be delivered to front desk personnel at any time during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm) prior to bid opening or brought by hand to the bid opening, which will be held at the address above and will begin promptly at 2:00 pm on May 2, 2019. Bids received after this time will not be accepted.
No security access is required for bid drop off.
