| TITLE: | SEWAGE PIPING, RENEW |
QUESTION: Paragraph 3.2 identifies the lengths and compartment locations of the designated piping to be renewed. However, It does not identify if or how many pipe fittings will be renewed.
Question Is it the intent of the Government for the contractor to perform a visual inspect of the designated piping and identify what additional piping and fittings may need to be renewed?
ANSWER:
Yes, a visual inspection will be part of the work item. There shouldn’t be any additional piping to be renewed other that what is listed in 3.2.1 – 3.2.4. If there is additional piping to be removed, it will be at discretion of CG Inspector (COR). With regard to fittings…typically a coupling (fitting) is added at each cut in the pipe and subsequently welded or silver brazed as necessary, i.e., two welds per coupling.

| TITLE: | Fuseable Links, Inspect and Renew |
QUESTION: 1.This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to inspect and renew 12 fuseable links in Repair Locker 2 (2), Repair Locker 3 (2), Scullery Window (2), Serving Line Windows (4), and Wardroom to Galley Windows (2).
Question: The drawings provided do not provide any amplifying information concerning the counter shutters in the galley, wardroom and scullery. As well SFLC 0000 doesn’t provide any guidance.
In reviewing the material we are under the assumption these are FIRE doors, counter shutters.
If so the following must occur:
1. Federal Fire Code - Requires annual testing and certification [drop testing] of any fire rated door to confine a fire - most of which we deal with are rolling doors and rolling shutters.
2. Any repairs made to a Fire Rated Door requires re-certification [passing the drop test] to comply with Federal Fire Codes.
3. If repairs require further materials then these must be ordered from the manufacturer, installed and then another testing/certification [drop test] must take place.
Please provide clarification and direction on the 12 units in question?
ANSWER: Drawing 240 WLBB-624-001, sheet 49, Rev B states thusly:
NOTE: Location of fuselinks/thermal sensors as shown, is simply a visual representation. Fuslinks/thermal sensors should be properly installed per NFPA bulletin 80 and in accordance with the authority having jurisdiction.

QUESTION: In regards to weight testing the trolley hoist, are we only testing to the 100 lbs or the 5000 lb As noted at 125% capacity. If we have to test to the 5000 lbs will there be assistance in bringing the weight Onboard the ship and into the generator room?
Answer: 3.2.3: The contractor will test both - the 100 lbs will be testing the monorail. The 5000 lb test is for the hoist and trolley. The government prefers this test be conducted off the cutter

| TITLE: | Walk-in Reefer and Freezer, Repair and Renew |
QUESTION: Cospolich indicated that there is a 18-20 week lead time on the parts and they are unable Expedite at this time.
Answer: With reference to the long lead time parts...we have no control over that. Depending on the CFR due to the government in paragraph 3.2.1 of work item 11 (Walk-In Reefer and Freezer, Repair and Renew), the government may have to descope work item and plan accordingly for another availability.
