About this file

This is an operational cost calculation spreadsheet detailing the transit costs for moving Coast Guard vessels between different locations, specifically focusing on the USCGC FREDERICK HATCH's movement to dry dock facilities. The spreadsheet breaks down costs for Fast Response Cutters (FRC) and National Security Cutters (WMSL) at $536 and $3,055 per hour respectively, with nautical mile rates of $51.04 and $311.76.

The calculations assume a 12-knot transit speed and include 72 rest hours per leg (3 days). Key routes and costs include Guam to Hawaii ($708,538.67), Hawaii to California ($5,062,531.97), and Washington ($5,213,866.42). The document specifically notes that FRCs traveling from Guam to CONUS must first stop in Hawaii and require a WMSL escort for the remainder of the journey, with total costs accumulating for each required stop along the route.

In order for an FRC to reach the Continental United States (CONUS) from Guam it must first travel to Hawaii. From Hawaii the FRC will require a WMSL escort to any CONUS shipyard. Use the information above to calculate the cost for an FRC to travel from Guam to the proposed shipyard. Some CONUS locations such as Washington will require an additional stop. IE Hawaii to California to Washington. Your total foreseeable costs will be the total for all stops required.
