70Z03820QB2000002 – Amendment 0002 Solicitation 70Z03820QB2000002 Q&A
Q1) Looking at the some of the dimension called out on the drawings, and they are beyond what our machines can hold.
a) Our tolerance for LS Nylon 11 = ±0.020 in. or ±0.003 in./in.
b) Most of the drawings are calling out tolerances closer to +/- .010” for .XXX dimensions.
A1) Quote using your standard tolerance and inspection process.
Q2) Can the tolerances on the related technical drawings be loosened to ±0.020 in. or ±0.003 in./in?
A2) Please quote to the highest tolerances you can manufacture to and specify what those tolerances are in response
Q3) Can you provide as assembly file of the “Copilot Duct (968-25-6)
A3) Can provide via email after receipt of signed NDA
Q4) The SOW requires more than flame coupons but verification of FST (flame, smoke and toxicity). The material itself meets the FAR 25.853 requirements and we can perform the flame testing in house. We would not be able to test for smoke and toxicity. This will have to be out-sourced.
a) Can you verify if you require “qualified” labs for this FST testing?
Testing may require a longer lead time for each build
b) It also states printing coupons for beginning, middle and end of each batch. That is more of a common practice for filament materials on how they are made. Essentially we'll need to produce coupons for each build because of how batches / blends are made in LS. In this case, coupons would be produced with every 11 sets since that is what we can fit in a single build.
A4) a) If material is shown to meet FAR 25.853, then additional testing is not required. Documentation showing material conformance to FAR 25.853 is sufficient without the need for respondent to conduct additional in-house or outsourced testing.
b) A coupon with each batch is sufficient and meets the intent of the SOW. One per each “set” of 11 units is acceptable.
