Question: is the heliport deck a certified flight deck? I'm asking because you call for a light gray non-skid. All certified non-skid coatings are going to be dark gray. We can add aluminum oxide to the epoxy to give it a non-skid finish but I can't get a pre-packaged non-skid in light gray. Also, you make no mention of helo markings. Please advise?

Refer to the 3-13-18 revision of the ship check hand out regarding this item which has been cancelled

Question: Item #0302056 - Ballast Tanks - I need clarification on the surface preparation. You use sweep blast and SP-10 in the same sentence.

This is a term noting that we want a full sweep and the blast should remove the existing coating and any oxide and such to an SP10 condition. The key is SP10 preparation of the tank prior to coating

Question: Definite Item 1400-2, Page 67: Stern Tube Seals SR No. is 0302052, which appears to be correct. However Page 84 also includes an Item titled Tailshaft Survey, which also is listed as SR No. 0302052. This Tailshaft Survey Item is not listed on either of the MARAD Price Quote Sheets.

This is listed as 1400-2 - Tailshaft Inspection and Seal and Measurements 0302052 It includes the following procedures

1) Stern Tube Seals = Inner and Outer seals (inner is in the shaft alley and outer requires the propeller to be removed)

2) Tailshaft Survey = is the measurements of the tailshaft after the propeller is removed for the clearance between the tailshaft and the bearing and NDT the keyway, etc If the measurements are okay and the LO sample of the stern tube is ok we do NOT have to remove the tailshaft

Question: Option Item 2100-1, I cannot find an Item for Tailshaft R/R anywhere in the Specifications.

There is another Tailshaft Item (listed above), however it is a Definite Item & it is for Tailshaft Survey & not Tailshaft R/R.

Tailshaft removal as an optional item in the event we have to remove same. If we get a good grade from ABS with measurements and LO sample we will not have to remove the tailshaft - we only change the seals (2) and the oil to EAL type oil. Refer to 2100-1 for optional Tailshaft Removal and Reinstallation 0302054 -- $200,000

Question: Work Item titled “Shore Power Connection Box – SR No. 0302448” requires shutdown of Port Side Shore Power Connection Box. Can Contractor utilize Aft or Stbd Shore Power Connection Boxes while Port Side Shore Power Connection Box is being worked?

Shore Power box renewal refers to the Port side of the ship (the ship docks to at CMA) There is another set of connections that the cables from this connection box connects to on the fantail of the ship - after bulkhead of the house where the cables from the port side cables plug into Yard could remove the connections from those connectors on the fantail and plug in yard power supply at that location. There is no Stbd side power connection
