About this file

This document contains questions and answers from an advertisement for Federal-Aid Highway Program Local Assistance Project number NM FLAP 152(1), NM 152 Bridges. The project involves replacing two single-lane truss bridges built in 1929 with new wider bridges designed for two-way traffic. Questions were asked about using waste material as fill, concrete quantities for the larger bridge, and whether retaining wall concrete could be included with bridge concrete. The answers provided that waste material could not be used as fill, the concrete quantity for the larger bridge would be double checked, and retaining wall concrete is separate from bridge concrete with the split point at the abutment footing width.

Questions and Answers during Advertisement for NM FLAP 152(1), NM 152 Bridges

September 1, 2020

Questions Answers 1 Will waste material be allowed to be used as fill the old cut as roadway obliteration?

No because it’s to remain at the old roadway elevation and must allow access to the pullout

2 Both bridges have the same concrete pay quantity of 290 CY.

We are currently getting about 378 CY for the larger bridge #1520. Can this quantity (item X0720) be double checked by the Government’s estimator/engineer?

See amendment A002

3 Would it be possible to include the H=20’ wall concrete quantity (item X0560) with the bridge concrete since they are connected and overlap with the bridge footing and abutment (highlighted below)? (we are not sure where to split the qty between the 2 bid items)

The 20 ft retaining wall is not included in the concrete quantity.

The split point between the abutment footing and the retaining wall is the line of the width of the abutment footing.
