Questions and Answers CPC Vault Fire-Stopping Project

• Can you provide the facility’s latest life safety drawings to assist with identifying the wall ratings and locations where work is needed?
Where access is not possible the only option is to fire-stop from only the accessible side, packing the annual space with the prescribed fire-stopping material and facing around the penetration with approved products – firestopping product manufacturers have engineered solutions they can recommend depending on the situation.
• After reviewing amendment #1, on the other side of the walls where these photos were taken is a difficult access point. There’s ceiling grid and tile in place, huge electrical standing generators, and a raised flooring system – all in place with limited access to the opposite side of conditions. It is very tough to fix and firestop the existing conditions. How would you like for us to get to it with limited access points?
Life Safety drawings will not be provided. The stated purpose of the project was to restore the room walls to a “1-hour fire resistance rating.” The through penetrations in the floor must be fire-stopped for a 2-hour rating.
