RFQ #693JK319Q0007 – QUESTIONS & RESPONSES

Q1. Since the solicitation talks about existing battery packages, are you only looking for the contractor to procure existing systems and perform abuse testing and testing under “stressed” conditions to study failure scenarios and magnitude of deflagration?

A1. No, we do not want the contractor to procure any supplies or equipment under this solicitation.

Q2. Are you interested in novel approaches to mitigating risks associated with a Li ion battery thermal runaway?

A2. No.

Q3. Are there any specific Li ion cells and systems that you are interested in testing?

A3. No Q4. Is the primary goal of this topic to introduce new safety standards (established through extensive testing) and update current safety standards for both primary batteries and batteries in transportation for the DOT?

A4. No, we do not want new safety standards established through extensive testing.

Q5. Finally, it will be very helpful to understand the scope of the project – a) number of battery systems you are looking to test; b) funding ceiling, c) ideal duration of the project SOW.

A5. Testing battery systems is not something we intended to convey in the solicitation. We do not anticipate this is be a necessary component to successfully complete the work outlined in the SOW.
